Wes Mickle began playing golf as a tenderfoot at age 6 and won his first tournament at age 13. His 40 year horse breeding career laid the foundation for Canyon West Golf Club. As a young cowpoke in the deserts of Arizona, Wes had two loves: horses and golf. While other folks with 40 years in a successful career wouldn't go wakin' snakes, Wes did just that when he decided to turn a portion of his 800 acre Texas ranch into a golf course. He blazed the golf trail and dug the rocks to make the driving range. You can often spot Wes on the course or out hittin' the ball on the prairie.

Stan Mickle's had many Wild West adventures and learned lots of lessons. Other dad's taught their children not to bite off more than they can chew, but Stan's dad, Wes, taught him not to worry about how much he bit off as long as he kept chewing. Thus Stan dug holes, moved rocks, paved trails, and built Canyon West Golf Club right along side his dad. Stan has played golf since his early years and can often be seen tearin' up the course or helpin' Cookie out in the Chuckwagon. There's so much celebratin' at Canyon West that we had to put someone in charge of all that happiness, and when you meet Melissa, you'll understand exactly why she's the one. Melissa knows how to purty up the place for special occasions. Plus she speaks some fine Spanish. Melissa has helped us throw all kinds of tournaments and shindigs from high-falutin' weddings and receptions to small parties for poppin' the question, celebratin' a birthday, or congratulatin' a young 'un who has finally been educated proper-like. No matter how much celebratin' you need to do, Melissa makes it happen just the way you want it. Whether its Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, Congratulations, Fore!, Felicidades, or Bon Voyage, Melissa helps celebrate in Canyon West style.

Chris Hunsucker

Chris has collected more golf trophies, awards, and accomplishments than you can fit on the 9th hole. A lifelong golf player since the age of 8, Chris was the Team MVP for University of North Carolina-Charlotte's golf team. In 1987 he was nominated for the prestigious Hugh McInary Award. Chris is not jest Big Hat, No Cattle: he's a member of PGA of America and past Member of the Asian PGA tour, the Nationwide Tour, and the South African PGA. In 2000 Chris was a member of the world team in China vs. the World with team captain Mark Omera. Chris has racked up 26 tournament wins as a professional. His golf instructors have included David Leadbetter and Dana Bellenger. Chris most recently served as Golf Instructor at San Antonio's Diamondback Golf Academy. Derek Peterson

OK, he doesn't know the first thing about feng shui, can't even pronounce it, but Derek Peterson does maintain harmony and balance around the clubhouse and out on the course. A transplant from Waseca, Minnesota, Derek has managed the Pro Shop since May 2004. Derek's focus since he started has been on keeping Canyon West Golf Club customers ecstatic about the club. Erasamo does everything from pulling out carts to grabbing a sandwich for golfers, from running a Bloody Mary out to Number Five to servin' up the best hot dog on the turn. He's always behind the scenes, testing the tenderloin for your reception, making sure the cheesecake is right for your wedding, and generally making folks feel at home. When you see Cookie handlin' one of his many duties so superbly give him a big Gracias.
